How do I account for door swing clearance when positioning a desk?

A standard 36" interior door requires a 36" swing arc plus 18" handle clearance on the latch side. Never place a desk within this arc — the door will strike it. Keep desk edges at least 6" clear of the door's swing path. If the desk is directly across from a door, a minimum 60" approach clearance is needed for safe passage.
