Flat-File Cabinets — Expert Answer

What is the difference between a flat-file cabinet and a lateral file cabinet?

A lateral file cabinet has drawers 2"–4" deep designed to hold standard 8.5"x11" or 8.5"x14" hanging folders in a side-to-side orientation. A flat-file cabinet has very wide, very shallow drawers (1"–2" deep) designed to hold oversized documents (18"x24" to 42"x54"+) flat. They are entirely different products for different document sizes. At OfficeFurniture2go.com, we carry both — call 1-800-460-0858 to confirm which type is right for your documents.
