Does conference table top thickness indicate quality?

Thickness specifications at OfficeFurniture2go.com are substrate-dependent. Our commercial conference tops use high-density particleboard (45–48 lb/cu.ft density) or MDF core at 1.5–1.75 inch — sufficient for spans up to 12 feet without cross-bracing. For tops 14+ feet, we use 2-inch high-density core with steel cross-rail support. A 2-inch thick top over standard particleboard is visually impressive but structurally equivalent to a 1.5-inch top over high-density core. We specify substrate density, not just thickness.
