Tables > Materials - Veneer

The Tables category spans conference tables, training tables, folding tables, cafeteria tables, activity tables, occasional and coffee tables, science and lab tables, standing-height conference tables, and whiteboard tables. Choosing among these subtypes depends on use function, occupant count, room configuration, and required height, since the same square footage of surface serves very different purposes depending on which subtype fills it. A conference table anchors a dedicated meeting room with a fixed layout, while a training table supports reconfigurable classroom rows that change between sessions. The intended use case is the starting point for narrowing the selection before comparing individual series against the room's floor plan.

Occasional and coffee tables run 24 to 36 inches across and 16 to 20 inches tall. Conference and training tables run 60 to 144 or more inches long, 24 to 48 inches wide, at a standard 28 to 30-inch height. Standing-height and lab tables reach 36 to 42 inches tall, serving programs where extended standing use is expected. Room floor plan, occupant count — figured at roughly 24 to 30 linear inches of table edge per seat — and clearance aisles all factor into the specific dimension chosen for a given room, and the product page for each series lists the exact overall dimensions available for that model.

Commercial table tops are rated to the BIFMA X5.5 testing standard, which measures repeated daily use under sustained load rather than occasional residential use. Load capacity generally runs 50 to 200 pounds of evenly distributed top load, with lab and science tables rated toward the higher end of that range to accommodate equipment weight and instrumentation. Base construction — 4-leg, T-leg, X-base, panel, or post — should match the expected load and the stability requirement of the room where the table will sit. Frame welds and edge profiles built to this standard hold up measurably longer under sustained daily use than residential equivalents at a comparable price point.

Thermally fused laminate (TFL) is the standard choice for training and conference tables in general office use, offering a scratch-resistant surface across a wide finish range at a moderate price point. High-pressure laminate (HPL) runs harder and suits cafeteria, lab, and high-traffic conference room applications where daily abrasion is a design factor. Wood veneer over an engineered core is used for executive conference rooms seeking a coordinated wood aesthetic that matches surrounding millwork. Edge profile — square, eased, bullnose, or waterfall — affects both appearance and wear resistance, with HPL edges outlasting TFL edges under daily impact from chairs and equipment.

Most tables require attaching the base — leg attachment or panel assembly — setting the top in place, and adjusting leveling glides so the finished table sits flat on an uneven floor. A Phillips driver and an Allen key handle most models, with hardware included in the shipping carton. Conference tables above 96 inches require two people to position the top safely without flexing or damaging the surface during placement. Mobile and flip-top training tables require caster installation and a test of the flip mechanism before first use. Standard models take 30 to 60 minutes to assemble; large conference configurations run 90 minutes or more with two installers.

Conference tables anchor dedicated meeting rooms with a fixed setup that does not change between meetings. Training tables serve multipurpose and flex rooms where the room layout changes between sessions, often several times in a single week. Folding tables cover overflow, events, break rooms, and temporary setups where portability matters more than a permanent footprint. Lab and science tables serve technical, research, and makerspace positions where the worksurface must handle equipment weight and occasional chemical exposure without degrading. Matching the table type to the primary use case in the room is the first step in any sound specification before shape or finish is considered.

Shape and size are the starting filters — length and width should match the intended occupant count at roughly 24 to 30 linear inches of edge per seat. Surface material (TFL, HPL, or veneer), base style (4-leg, T-leg, X-base, panel, or post), caster availability for mobile variants, and power or data grommet options round out the comparison across candidate series. For a full meeting room order, checking whether the table family offers a matching credenza and presentation table helps the room read as a coordinated set rather than a collection of unrelated pieces purchased at different times from different lines.

Leveling glides, caster sets, grommet inserts, and edge banding repair kits are available for most commercial table lines and represent the highest-wear components under daily use. Mobile training tables wear fastest at the flip-top pivot hardware, given the weekly movement involved in reconfiguration between sessions, so a replacement flip-top mechanism should be confirmed as available before that series is selected for high-rotation use in a shared facility. The product page for each series lists available replacement parts, and checking this list ahead of purchase avoids a later situation where a worn component has no documented replacement path.

Commercial tables tested to the BIFMA X5.5 standard carry a 10 to 15-year warranty as an industry norm, well beyond the roughly 1-year term typical of residential tables, but we offer a Free Lifetime Warranty unless specifically noted. Coverage extends to the top, the frame welds, the leg leveling glides, casters where ordered, and the grommet hardware installed at the factory. A 10 to 15-year commercial warranty on a conference table is a reliable signal that the frame and surface were engineered for sustained daily meeting-room use rather than the lighter duty cycle assumed by residential furniture manufacturers.

An ADA-accessible table position requires 27 inches of knee clearance beneath the top and 30 by 48 inches of clear floor space for wheelchair approach at one or more positions around the table. The table top should land between 28 and 34 inches for accessible reach by a seated user. Standing-height tables at 42 inches require an adjacent seated 29-inch surface or an adjustable-height variant to provide accommodation for wheelchair users who cannot reach the taller surface. Fixed-height training tables at 29 to 30 inches are among the simplest accessible options, since they clear both the knee height and the reach range simultaneously without any additional modification.
